There is a census that is attempting to record the number of jaguars in the Amazon regions of Ecuador. Camera trapes have been set and have taken pictures of the jaguars that moved by them. These cameras start taking pictures when a trip has been breached and then thermal imaging sets of the camera. Some of the main threats to jaguars is that people are moving closer and closer to their regions and they are hunting the same prey as the jaguars. This is as a result, reducing the food for the jaguars and thus reducing their numbers. Things overall are not looking good for the jaguars in the Amazon regions of Ecuador.
I am personally a fan of the big cats and it kills me to know that they are being threatned. I think that there should be tougher laws put in place to protect this species.
